There are several reasons students dropout of college. One of the main reasons is that they come to realize their major is not something they will enjoy doing as a career.
Society pressures high school graduates to attend a 4-year university in order to be “successful” in life. For some, that is the choice that will lead to a fulfilling career. For others, it ends up being the wrong path and doesn’t lead them to a career they are passionate about.
We know parents, high school teachers and guidance counselors think they have your best interests in mind when they suggest a college degree is what you need. The question is, do they know what you are passionate about? Your path to a fulfilling career shouldn’t be based on what society thinks, it should be based on what you feel. If you like to work with numbers, maybe a college degree in accounting is right for you. If you like to help others to look and feel their best, maybe a degree in cosmetology, esthetics, nail technology or massage therapy is right for you. Being happy and enjoying your career… that’s what we’re talking about!
Dropping out of college is not a failure, it’s a turning point. Here are a few examples of people who found college wasn’t inspiring them, so they dropped out and followed their passion.
