Congratulations to Shelby Adkins, Student Of The Month at The Salon Professional Academy!
Shelby joined our Esthetics program in March, and has impressed us ever since. She is very dedicated to becoming an amazing esthetician, and always goes out of her way to help other students! Shelby is a very giving person, which we know will not only take her far in her profession, but also in life.
Get to know Shelby:
Q- Where is your hometown?
A- Mabel, MN
Q- How long have you been a student at TSPA?
A- Since March 1st, 2022
Q- What is your favorite food?
A- Pasta!
Q- Why did you choose The Salon Professional Academy?
A- I chose TSPA because my sister is a TSPA alumni. I also really loved the energy & atmosphere here while touring the school.
Q- Why did you decide to pursue a career in Esthetics?
A- I chose this career because I have always had an interest in the beauty industry. I began cosmetology school right out of high school, but switched to dental where I’ve been working for the last 8 years. Now I am finally pursuing something I’ve dreamt about for years.
Q- What is your favorite movie?
A- I am loving the new Top Gun
Q- Describe TSPA in one word.
A- Rewarding
Q- What is your favorite thing about TSPA?
A- The people I’ve met along the way. My educator Ms. Leonard – she’s been an amazing educator and role model for our industry.
Q- Who is your favorite band/music artist?
A- Anything from the 90’s.
Q- When did you first become interested in a career in Esthetics?
A- When I was in High School. I changed my career path based on what everyone around me wanted, and now I’m finally doing something for myself.
Q- What advice would you give to other students wanting to achieve high levels of success like you have?
A- Stay true to yourself. Stick to your core values and be willing to learn new things. Step outside of your comfort zone.
Q- What are your plans after you graduate?
A- I am currently positioned at Lash Society, Fargo.
Q- What do you like to do in your spare time?
A- Spending time with my fiance, pups, and gardening. I also love traveling home to Rochester to visit my family.
