Helping Our Students During Difficult Times

Helping Our Students During Difficult Times

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many people in many ways. When businesses and schools began closing to slow the spread, we began planning ways to help our students not only to continue learning, but also to provide as many necessities as possible.

Many of our students rely on part-time jobs in the restaurant industry and other industries forced to close during the pandemic. As we all know, loss of income can be very scary. We all appreciate government programs put in place to help those financially affected by COVID-19, but we also know the waiting period was compounded by the large number of unemployment applications and CARES applications. CARES is the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act to help fund public education.

We knew many of our students would be fine during the waiting period since they were able to move in with parents or relatives, but there were a number who did not have that option. We decided to have several food drives to help students in need. Our staff and owners donated food and every student that needed help was taken care of.
