Our summer project theme was “Summer in the Buff”. We decided to sell Buffs (like the ones worn on the reality TV show “Survivor”) and hold an event with proceeds going to Make-A-Wish. Tens of thousands of volunteers, donors and supporters advance the Make-A-Wish® vision to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness. In the United States and its territories, on average, a wish is granted every 34 minutes. To learn more about Make-A-Wish click here.
We had a food and ice cream event which featured a local BBQ food truck and an ice cream truck. Along with the trucks we also sold buffs and had a $1 spin to win booth.
The food and treats were great, and we showed off the many ways a Buff can be worn. The event was a great success!
On August 27th we presented Make-A-Wish with a check for $552.00 from event proceeds, and will be presenting another check from vendor proceeds. We are very proud of our staff and students for their dedication to helping others!
Each year a local nonprofit organization called The Christmas Gift donates funds to families and individuals in need. A large percentage of their funds are raised through the Fashion Avenue Style Show which draws a large crowd kind enough to donate a $650 – $850 per table. That’s roughly $46,000 raised in one night in table sales alone. Funds are also raised through raffle ticket sales at the event.
TSPA Fargo students compete to earn a spot in “The Gift” style show as individuals or groups each year. Their hair, makeup and costume designs are judged by an independant panel.
This year’s theme was Candyland. As you can see, our students really put their imaginations, skills and creativity to work. They came up with some amazing designs!
Our students thoroughly enjoyed seeing their creations on stage, and the fashion show was a huge success!
We are so proud of our students, and so happy for their accomplishments! We’re excited to see what next years show brings!

First day of Massage Therapy Class!
One of our biggest celebrations is the JUMP party, where we celebrate students who have either qualified or are jumping to the next level on the Salon floor. Qualifying and Jumping are based on several factors including number of services performed, number of referrals, number of pre-books, types of services, etc… Jumping is a major achievement, so we CELEBRATE!
Sometimes it gets a little CRAZY, but our students have a blast and that’s what it’s all about!
In addition to Jump and Qualify recognition, students are also recognized for their achievements in retail sales and individual service numbers.
Oh…. and did we mention prizes? Lots and lots of prizes!

In recognition of Hunger Awareness Month, Redken 5th Avenue NYC in collaboration with The Salon Professional Academy, will host the Trim Hunger™ Cut-A-Thon at the Redken Exchange in NYC on Thursday, September 10th from 10am– 3:30 pm to benefit City Harvest, a food rescue organization dedicated to helping feed the nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers facing hunger.
Top Redken stylists will be giving haircuts, blowouts and braids for a minimum donation of $25. Much like the way color specific ribbons are worn in support of causes, painting your thumbnail has taken on the same social identity. Essie, also a sponsor of the event, will be offering “orange thumbie” manicures in their Trim Hunger “Roarrrrange” shade as a symbol of support in the fight against hunger.
Trim Hunger is the most recent non-profit endeavor of Redken stylist Josif Wittnik, owner of Salon CTI and Day Spa and The Salon Professional Academy in Appleton, WI. Following a local project to help feed families in need in his community, Josif developed Trim Hunger to raise awareness for the cause and feed the hungry on a national level.
“It costs City Harvest just 25 cents to rescue and deliver one pound of food in New York City, and with more than 2.6 million New Yorkers struggling to afford food for themselves and their families, a little bit goes a long way,” says Leslie Marino, General Manager, Redken US. “Redken’s Trim Hunger Cut-A-Thon will bring together both stylists and members of the community to help make an immediate impact on the fight against hunger in New York City.”
